Does anyone get bothered by people who smoke right next to the entry ways of public buildings?
I mean its stupid.I go to the court house to pay off a traffic ticket and right when i go up to the door to get in people are smoking no more than 10 feet away from the door even the cops do it and there is a sign that says no smoking in this area.Whats wrong with these people?
I might not like it but when we outlaw smoking in buildings this is their alternative. In a way I laugh to myself at all the people who wanted smoking in buildings banned and now are surprised the people take one step out the door to smoke.

Where can an entry level mechanical engineer get his foot in the door?
I've been looking for a job out of graduation for almost nine months now. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering with certifications in Solidworks, CAMWorks and Cosmos Flo Works. I have one year of experience from my co-op jobs.
I've applied to 300+ jobs and at least 15 recruiting agencies, but I get the distinct impression without at least 5 years experience (which 99% of jobs require), they don't even look at my resume. The head hunters contact me but then ignore me when they realize I don't have anything under my belt EXCEPT the degree (how noble, indeed, to only help others with the thought of a commission for yourself).
So, enough back story. The question is this: HOW does an entry level mechanical engineer get enough experience to be considered a "real" candidate? I'm willing to work technician jobs or other "low-level" (if you must call it that) positions, but even those seem to be few and far between and STILL want experience.
Do NOT suggest to me I get a job at CVS or any job within foot distance for convenience. For an engineer, working 10 years at CVS and working 0 years in Engineering fields are the exact same thing. In other words, it's worthless time.
If you have ever been in this boat before, please mention the fact. Misery loves company.
Oh, and please note I am willing to accept pretty much any pay grade above 16 dollars an hour and work anywhere in the world. Literally anything is better than my current situation.
I think you are just going to have to find some small place that is dirty and run by a tyrant...the places regular engineers with experience won't touch. I speaking about Midwest USA...for other areas, places like this might not even exist. And then grin and bear it for as long can handle it. Do whatever garbage they want you to do...your just looking for SOMETHING to go on your resume. Speaking from the other side, we just hired a kid in almost exactly your situation...straight out of college, been looking for a mechanical engineering job for 9 months. We are very disappointed with him..he can't do anything, can't design anything...has to be spoon fed everything and then complains about too much paperwork. He's doing the paperwork because he can't design anything. And this kid got good grades in school. Companies don't want to hire green kids like this fresh out of school...because the schools don't seem to teach them anything that is useful in the real job world.
Single Car Side Entry Garage (Dimensions)?
I want to add a single car side entry garage. The proposed door size is 9 feet wide, 8 feet high. The width of garage is 10 feet , and height is 20 feet. I was wondering whether this relatively small space would be sufficient for a small car. I live in a city and don't have more space available in the house.

How deep is it? Height doesn't really matter, as long as it's about 8' or so to allow for the tracks and spring for the door. With the information given, it's hard to say if it's feasible or not. Do you have enough room on the lot to get into the garage, and do you have enough room to get out? Will your city allow you to put one up? Many municipalities have minimum garage sizes, so you need to check with that. I think you can get better answers locally than here. Contact your building department. Hope this helps.
How to apply for entry position job at state farm insurance getting my foot in the door?
Please anybody who has experience or previously applied and gotten a position at any one of these insurance companies from state farm insurance Farmers insurance AAA Travelers insurance. Going and applying to through there websites is useless because u don't get any calls back. I have an excellent resume with many years of experience in administrative, sales and much more. I have heard that majority of the resumes submitted through the internet are weeded out by a software and barely few make it to actual recruiter. Is there a way i can go in person or call a phone number to talk to someone for a job placement even if it is $10.00 an hour working as a receptionist or assistant seems like those don't even exist on their websites. I am also working on my bachelors hoping to finish within two years but i know even with that in my resume will not land me a job as they want someone who is currently working for them.

Speak directly to someone in one of their offices. The $10/hr jobs are not out there any more. These companies want people that can understand their products and make people want to buy them. If you have no history in that type of work, it may be a little tougher nowadays.
